Who we are

Doku is developed and published by Poliglot News LLC, a limited liability company registered in the United States. For any privacy question or request, contact tcohen@poliglotnews.com.

What the app collects

Unless you have turned usage data off, Doku records a small set of gameplay events so we can understand where players get stuck and which levels are too hard or too easy:

• App opens, and which screen of the app was opened
• Level starts, completions, failures and restarts, together with which mode you were in, which level or dated puzzle it was, how many moves and mistakes you made, and how many seconds the attempt took
• Whether the tutorial was completed, whether tip cards were shown, and whether the rules sheet was opened
• That an advertisement was displayed
• Two summary values: which numbered level you have reached, and whether you have finished the tutorial

These events are sent to Google Analytics, which processes them on our behalf.

The only identifier

Gameplay events are tied to a single identifier called an app instance ID: 32 random hexadecimal characters generated on your device the first time the app runs, stored in a file inside the app's own storage. It is not derived from anything about you or your hardware, it is not shared with anyone besides the analytics provider, and deleting the app deletes it permanently. There is no way for us to reconnect a reinstalled app to a previous one.

What the app does not collect

To be specific, Doku does not collect or transmit:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials. There are no accounts.
• The Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or the Identifier for Vendors (IDFV) for our own purposes
• Any device fingerprint, contact list, photo, microphone or camera data
• GPS or any device location
• Anything you type
• Crash reports. The app includes no crash-reporting service.

There is no login, no cloud save, and no synchronization between devices. Your progress is stored only on your own device.

Advertising

Doku is free and supported by advertising delivered through Google AdMob. When an advertisement is requested or displayed, Google collects and processes its own data for that purpose, not Poliglot News LLC. Depending on your region, your device settings and the consent you give, this can include device and advertising identifiers, your IP address (from which an approximate location such as country or city can be inferred), and your interactions with the ad.

Where the law requires it, you will be asked for consent before personalized advertising is used, and non-personalized advertising is served if you decline. On iOS, apps must also ask permission before tracking you across other companies' apps and websites; you can review that permission at any time under Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Google's handling of this data is governed by its own privacy policy, at policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not receive the underlying advertising data, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising ourselves.

How we use what we collect

Gameplay statistics are used for one purpose: to make the game better. They tell us which levels are abandoned, whether the tutorial works, and whether a difficulty curve is doing what it was designed to do. We do not use them to build a profile of you, to target advertising, or to make any decision about an individual.

Your choices

• Turn statistics off. Open the app's settings and switch Usage data off. Collection stops immediately, and any events still queued on the device are discarded rather than sent.
• Control advertising. Use the consent prompt shown in the app where applicable, and the iOS tracking setting described above.
• Delete everything. Deleting the app removes your progress and the random identifier from your device.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the EU and UK GDPR and under California law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of personal information about you, and to object to it or complain to a regulator. The app holds nothing that identifies you, so we cannot locate records belonging to a particular person even if asked. In practice the controls that matter are the usage data switch in the app and deleting the app, which removes everything stored on your device. Data retention and security

Gameplay statistics are retained by our analytics provider under its standard retention period and then deleted. Data stored on your device stays there until you delete the app. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

International transfers

We operate from the United States, and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where information is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our providers rely on the safeguards described in their own privacy documentation.

Children

Doku is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact tcohen@poliglotnews.com and we will delete it.

This website

poliglotnews.com is a set of static pages hosted by GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds no third-party trackers. Our host records standard server access logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. When we make a material revision we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Doku after a change means you accept the revised policy.
